The All Important Announcement!
Right guys, the announcement that we’ve all been waiting to hear about for the last 4wks: Kraken will be back open on Wednesday 2nd December! Things will be exactly the the same as prior to this lockdown with the addition of even higher cleaning standards and precautions. Please note, that our one way system, ‘bubble booths’, hand cleaning stations, temperature checking, track and trace (GymSync) and rigorous cleaning standards will remain in place. Regardless of your opinions on this whole pandemic situation, please continue to help us with your cooperation, enabling us to continue being ‘COVID Safe’ and therefore remain open.
Junior MMA Curriculum
From the 2nd we will be restarting the junior MMA curriculum. Our junior students will be working on a different aspect of mixed martial arts each week from our curriculum. This is tailored to the students current belt-level/ability and their age. We are so proud of our curriculum as it ensures that all of our students cover every aspect of fighting and self defence including striking, clinch, ground (top & bottom), ground escapes, wall fighting, padwork, strength & conditioning and of course; sparring (to various degrees, depending on students age/experience).
After the nine week cycle, those students that have managed to earn all of the required stripes will have a grading day, where they are tested on the new skills they have learnt, provided with constructive feedback, and those that pass will be awarded their new belt and a certificate. This also provides the parents with a great opportunity to see their daughter/son showcase their skills!
The curriculum has been designed to take students, on average, a couple of classes to obtain each stripe. Therefore, try to get you child to at least two classes a week where possible. Although the more the merrier!
Lastly, we have now added a specific self-defence stripe to the curriculum. Although MMA provides a better set of skills to be able to defend yourself than any other martial art or fighting style, without question, this new stripe will be focusing more on being street smart, situational awareness and defending yourself against common problems that occur on the playground that usually aren’t necessarily a typical martial art’s technique. A prime example of this would be the school-yard headlock!
Although we would always encourage our students to avoid violence and confrontation where possible, we believe that is imperative that every Kraken student be as prepared as possible. Especially in this day and age! Whether this be to run to escape the danger or having to physically defend themselves.
Hoodies
The Kraken hoodies have finally arrived! Trust me – it has been a bloody long and painful process, but we love them. They’ve been worth the wait.
They are ‘SuperDry quality’ with premium heavy peached cotton, thumb holes, joey pouch and that beautiful Kraken branding!
We are expecting these to fly out. Especially with Christmas around the corner so don’t hang around!
These will be priced at £68. (adults & junior sizes cost the same). There is a 15% discount to those that have supported us by keeping their direct debit running throughout both lockdowns.
For the few guys that are on our pre-paid list, having paid for the hoodies ages ago – please ping us a quick email to info@kraken-mma.com before Wednesday so that we can cross you off of the list and make sure that a hoodie is put by for you before they sell out.
